We’re excited to announce that we will be holding the first Iowa City Math Tournament on August 9th at 2 p.m. All high school, junior high, and elementary students in Iowa are welcome to participate. We will have two divisions: one for rising 9th-graders and below, and one for rising 10th-graders and above. The competition will be proctored through Zoom.

The tournament consists of two parts:

  1. The Speed Round: a 30-minute exam with 20 questions emphasizing mental agility and competitors’ abilities to do quick mathematics.
  2. The Focus Round: a hour-long exam with 10 questions that emphasizes participants creativity and perseverance in solving harder problems.
