The Iowa City Math Tournament is an annual math competition open to all high school, junior high, and elementary students. The tournament consists of two parts:
- The Speed Round: a 30-minute exam with 20 questions emphasizing mental agility and competitors’ abilities to do quick mathematics.
- The Focus Round: a hour-long exam with 10 questions that emphasizes participants creativity and perseverance in solving harder problems.
Scratch paper and writing utensils are the only aids allowed—calculators are not allowed.
